This series of artworks is inspired by the neo – expressionist  works of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Defined by vivid colors and pop art imagery, the artworks aim to develop a retelling of the late 80’s and 90’s artistic cultural scene through dysmorphic and unusual human-like forms. Inspiration from the traditional Byzantine icon making is also present, here to remind us that meddling with tradition can open new ways of understanding the nature of a neo – expressionist artwork highlighting how old and new indeed communicate. The presence of words can help us interpret what we see or maybe not ? That is why all the works here are untitled.
